My brother is diabetic. He knows exactly what he should and shouldn't be doing to manage his health, yet most mornings, he makes the same convenient choice and tells himself it's fine, it’s just a little quantity. But I told him, you have to be intentional, consistent and disciplined. Take it seriously before things get worse, not after.
I told him I understood it may not be easy initially and I gave an example of my own situation. I am trying a new diet routine for a better health. I did it for 3days but broke the routine on the 4th day not because I had to, but simply because I wanted to. And the worst part? I knew better.
"If my health depended on it, I would hold the line without a second thought. So why does 'not sick yet' feel like permission to be careless?"
That question sat with me. We treat discipline like it's only necessary in a crisis like when the doctor gives a warning, when the deadline is tomorrow or when failure is already visible. But by then, the cost of getting back on track is so much higher than it needed to be.
The truth is, discipline isn't punishment. It's a decision you make for your future self. Whether it's your health, your finances, your career, or a goal you've been "almost" working on for months, the gap between where you are and where you want to be has a name. And that name is INTENTIONALITY.
Habits form in 21 days. Not through motivation. Not through someone else cheering you on. Just YOU, making one consistent choice, every day, for three weeks. That's the whole formula.
Mistakes will happen, that's normal as they are part of the process so don't feel bad. But there's a difference between an honest slip and a lifestyle built on excuses dressed up as reasons. Nobody is coming to do this for you. No motivational talk, no miracle moment, no perfect Monday to start fresh on.
Just you. Talking to yourself. Making up your mind. And choosing, one day at a time, to follow through.
So — what are you waiting for?
